MAKEUP MAESTRO, MINA USMAN TELLS US HOW TO DO THE PERFECT EYE MAKEUP ACCORDING TO ONE’S EYE SHAPE!
Not sure how to do your eye makeup? Here are a few tips on how to do yourmakeup according to your natural eye shape:
Hooded Eyes
If you have a fold of skin that hangs over or covers your natural crease like that means you have hooded eyes! Bold eye makeup looks best on it. In fact, smokey look was made for such eyes. Unlike other shapes, hooded eyes should use darker shade on the lid. To get this look,use a lengthening mascara to open up those eyes. Eye opening mascara by Bobbi brown is excellent for a dramatic effect. You can use a WHITE L’Oréal Paris Contour Kohl Pencil eyeliner for your waterline (inside of the eye) to brighten up it up.
Almond Eyes
This is the most versatile eye shape to work with. Some of the most stunning celebrities have almond eyes. If you have this shape you’re lucky!Any makeup style will suit it. You can be experimental or just keep it simple by using a gel eyeliner on the lid and a kohl pencil in the waterline. The chromosome gel liner by MAC is quite easy to use and gives great coverage . For the waterline, I would recommend the Urban Decay 24/7 glide on pencil or the black Dior show liner for a more dramatic look.
Deep Set Eyes
To make your eyes appear less deep set use the lightest, the most neutral shadow on the lid. It will really bring out the eye colour This technique draws attention to your eye colour instead of how deep they are. Use a darker shade above the crease just on the outer edge of the eye. This will give depth to your eyes. mascara is a must as it gives an illusion of pulling the eyes forward. For this look it’s best to go for a wide ranging eyeshadow palette. One can really play with different colours on these eyes. TheNaked2 and 3 both palettes by Urban Decay are quite wide ranging when you want to go for neutrals or smokey looks.
Downturned Eyes
If you have round, droopy eyes ,the best technique would be to lift the eye by going for a long winged eyeliner pulling outwards. Heavy mascara also helps with the lifting. Keep the lower lashes minimal. Another great eye liner is the eyeko liquid eyeliner. It’s quite smudge proof and lasts long too. For this look or any other for that matter, it’s important to keep the eyebrow game strong. Instead of using a brow pencil, I prefer to apply brow wax or a powder using a brush. It fills the eyebrows yet helps to keep it looking natural. I’m quite a fan of the brow wax and powder duo by benefits cosmetics.
Protruding Eyes
If you have big, round eyes, it’s best to use the darkest eyeshade on the lid.its best to keep the eyeshadow below the crease. Use matte shades instead of shimmer. Most importantly, use a dark liner for your waterline. Avoid the bright, pearly colours on the lid as it will make the eye look even bigger. Go for a thick eyeliner as you have enough room for it. A good option to go for when looking to use matte shadows isNARS.It gives a great coverage and sets well on the lid. Ps remember to use an eyeshadow primer before applying the eye shadow.
