Always Avoid
The best way to brace your hair for intensive styling is prevention. Here’s what we recommend avoiding all the time:
The best way to brace your hair for intensive styling is prevention. Here’s what we recommend avoiding all the time:
Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS)
SLS is what creates the magical lather in our shampoo routine. Found in over 90% of personal care and domestic cleaning products, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate is generating much concern. It erodes yourhair follicle and impairs new hair growth. Studies show that pure SLS used on your hair will cause it to completely fall out. Read the ingredients on your bottle, and go for a shampoo that is SLS-free.
Silicones
There are two main types of silicones used in haircare products – water soluble and non-water soluble – and neither have any beneficial effect on your hair whatsoever. The inclusion of either type of silicone is only gives the FEEL of healthier hair because that is exactly what silicones are meant to do: weigh down one’s hair by increasing product buildup so that strands appear more voluminous and sleeker.
Heat damage
Applying heat directly to your hair exposes the cuticle layer of your hair follicles, which in turn allows the heat to penetrate deep enough to reach the hair strand’s cortex. This will irreversibly damage your hair – the only cure for which is to cut off the hair that has withstood heat damage due to styling. Never ever skimp out on a heat protectant before styling! Make sure you use serum or some lightweight, non-smelly oil (like Conatural’s Argan Oil) before heat styling. Doing this protects your hair from permanent damage by sealing the cuticle layer.

Conatural’s Intense Growth hair Oil contains chamomile and lavender essential oils, which are calming and clean out clogged pores on the skin of your scalp. Organic castor oil and sunflower oil are excellent moisturisers and accelerate hair growth due to the high content of essential fatty acids and omega 3’s. Conatural’s hair Repair Shampoo and Conditioner are completely free from Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Formaldehyde, Silicones and Phthalates. The shampoo builds body in the shower and gives hair a lift whilst moisturising and sealing split ends. Both products provide UV protection for those sunny summer days out, with keratin and moringa oil effectively cleansing and gently moisturising to keep essential volume locked in.
Conatural’s intense luster hair oil is the perfect go to for dry and damaged hair that needs serious attention. There are simply no better moisturisers for your hair than argan and almond oils, which are lightweight and non greasy.
Dos and Don’ts
* Never condition on the roots. If you need to, just go over on the ends. Conditioning on the scalp and roots makes hair weaker and worsens hair fall.
* Hang your hair and blow dry upside down. Doing this gives more volume and decreases damage.
* Do NOT crash diet. Eat raw fruit and veggies to get vitamins and antioxidants into your system.hair is essentially made up of proteins and a protein rich diet that includes Omega 3’s and other essential fatty acids is the most potent element for gorgeous locks.
* Drinking at least 15 (yes!) glasses of water a day will help flush out toxins and enable your scalp to grow stronger hair.
