The Galaxy S9 looks like an iterative update over Galaxy S8 but there is a lot more going on under the hood. The Exynos 9810. The chipset is already in mass production and Samsung has shed some light on the specifications of its Exynos 9810, we will dig into the details of hardware in this post.

Exynos 9810 Features Custom Cores That Can Run at 2.90GHz and Features Improved Facial Recognition Thanks to Deep Learning

Manufactured on the 10nm LPP architecture, Exynos 9810 sports an octa-core processor that comprises up of the following:
  • 4 x third-generation custom cores running at 2.90GHz
  • 4 x ARM Cortex-A55 for improved efficiency
The new architecture widens the pipeline and improves cache memory which results in twice faster performance in single-core and a 40-percent improvement in the multi-core environment. Well that what company claims, the real world application results will let us know the truth.

The Exynos 9 Series 9810 is our most innovative mobile processor yet,                                       with our third-generation custom CPU, ultra-fast gigabit LTE modem and, deep learning-enhanced image processing. The Exynos 9810 will be a key catalyst for innovation in smart platforms such as smartphones, personal computing and automotive for the coming AI era."
The Exynos 9810 features stronger security and takes advantage of deep learning. It will improve the security features that we are going to experience on Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+. This will for sure include facial recognition and scanning procedure is going to be taking place via depth sensing. These improvements will be seen on the iris and fingerprint scanners, especially to increase accuracy and speed, as reported by Samsung.
The Exynos 9810 also provides support for 4K video recording up to 120 frames per second. It will be interesting to see if the Galaxy S9 or the Galaxy S9+ will be able to get the same support. The SoC also gets an LTE modem with a 1.2Gbps download speed cap and 20.
We are expecting that both Galaxy devices, Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ will be unveiled at MWC 2018 trade show, so stay tuned.
