THE MOST IMPORTANT – AND OFTEN THE MOST IGNORED – STEP IN SKINCARE, IS BROKEN DOWN FOR YOU STEP BY STEP BY TALENTED MAKEUP ARTIST MINA USMAN
1. GET THE PRODUCT
Investing in a good Makeup remover is as important as investing in any otherskincareproduct. Determine your skin type and then find the products or range that best suits your needs. Wet wipes are a popular Makeup remover, but not the greatest for your skin. Most contain alcohol, which dries the skin and keeps pushing dirt around the face instead of removing it. Go for a proper oil based or a cream based Makeup remover. Oil based products are good for removing eye Makeup, especially waterproof mascara and eyeliner. I’ve been using Take The Day Off by Clinique and it’s excellent for removingMakeup quickly and smoothly without dehydrating the skin.
2. ROUND WE GO
Dab a little bit of the liquid on a cotton pad and gently rub it on your face in a circular motion.  Make sure to be extremely gentle around the eyes; That is a delicate area and is susceptible to developing fine lines quicker than other areas of the face. Use different cotton pads for different parts of the face for two reasons: 1) to avoid transferring your eye Makeup to the face and vice versa, which can cause clogged pores, and 2) to avoid make up residue left behind on your face.
3. CLEANSE AND TONEAfter removing your Makeup, it’s best to cleanse the face to take out any residualMakeup. I’m currently using Gentle Foaming Cleanser by Clarins, and swear by it! Cleansing leaves your pores open, so it’s very important to also use a toner, which helps close those pores and reduce the penetration of impurities. After the toner, you can apply some serum to help deliver vitamins and antioxidants deep into the skin. The double effect serum by Clarins is one of the best I’ve used so far.
4. MOISTURIZEFinally, moisturize the whole face in an upwards motion. By now, many people get tired and opt out of the last step, but moisturizing before bed helps rehydrate your skin overnight. Lately, I’ve been using a moisturizer packed with vitamin C called Natura Bisse and I’m very content with the results.
